The most common types of industrial vehicle revision

The most common types of industrial vehicle revision

There are different types of revisions for industrial vehicles, depending on the type of vehicle and also on the time of its useful life. Sometimes, it is possible to have more than one at the same time, or rather, we can take advantage of the moment to do more than one and not duplicate costs. Do you want to know which are the most important and the periodicity? We describe them in more detail.

The most important inspections for industrial vehicles

ADR revision

ADR inspections are designed for vehicles specialised in the transport of dangerous goods. This inspection must be carried out every 2 years to check that the vehicle meets the required standards. And, of course, they must be carried out by a duly authorised operator.

The reason for the short overhaul periods is simple: the potential danger of the vehicle being in poor condition. Let us also bear in mind that the penalties we can receive for this are high.

ATP revision

The ATP inspection applies to refrigerated vehicles used for the transport of perishable goods. And, once again, the objective is to ensure that the regulations and storage conditions are complied with in order to obtain the certificate. It is important to know that the inspection is carried out every 3 years for vehicles that are 6 years old or older. It should be remembered that new models should already comply with the conditions as standard.

We can say that the ATP review would be equivalent to an MOT, but applied to refrigerated trucks or vans. Therefore, if we are involved in this sector of activity, this regulation must be complied with, above all for safety reasons.

ISO revision

When we talk about ISO revisions, we are referring to the compliance with international standards that apply to the automotive industry and are accepted worldwide. Specifically, the standard we have to follow is ISO/TS 16949. We have to check that the manufacturing regulations of all vehicle components are complied with.

It should be noted that these standards have to meet traceability criteria. In other words, they are checked in the manufacturing process of the vehicles so that, when they are ready, they comply with the regulations.

Pre-MOT revision

The Pre-MOT check is the only one of those that we indicate that is not obligatory, although it is highly recommended. Here we will take the vehicle to a specialised workshop to check, adjust or repair the entire running gear of your vehicle with total safety and guarantee, as well as carrying out a load simulation. What is the objective? To pass the MOT inspection and avoid the need to take any further steps that would make the process more expensive.

We can say that this is predictive maintenance which, depending on the results, can end up being preventive or predictive. Remember that the first MOT on these models is carried out after 2 years and, from the sixth year onwards, annually.

It is good to be aware of the types of inspections that exist, both general and specific for industrial vehicles. At Consman we carry out all these actions to ensure proper operation.
